But to help you out in the long wait for Infinite, here are the best maps from Halo 3 - something to sate your appetite. No doubt Halo Infinite will tug on those heartstrings. It's odd to think it's been almost fifteen years since the game's release. Truly, split-screen will never reach those glorious heights again.

It was a golden age for those lucky enough to have experienced it an unbelievable amount of content for a single game, and all of it free to play with up to four friends, provided you had just one copy. Halo 3 will always be remembered, and not just as one of the best shooters, but as one of the best games of all time. So to keep us entertained until then, we put together a list of the 5 best Halo 3 maps. With Halo Infinite due in November, we're starting to feel the nostalgia again for this beloved franchise. There were claustrophobic areas, like the room you'd inevitably have to fight for the Energy Sword in, and open corridors, like the Rocket Launchers' spawn, where you get some sweet BR play. It was also perhaps the most versatile map, working as well for FFA Oddball, as multi-team King of the Hill. It was just so well-designed for Halo 3's chaotic multiplayer.

The Pit: I think any selfвЂ“respecting Halo 3 fan knew this was coming when they saw Guardian in second place. It was also the only map that worked as well as it did for a good 1v1 or 2v2 - very much Halo's Rust. Guardian was just the right size, it offered tunnels and corridors to try and escape through, and a central platform for when you felt more confident. Guardian: For many, this would perhaps place first rather than second, and I wouldn't oppose that too strongly, it's an incredible map. Some of my favorite games in Halo 3 were High Ground matches - DragonFury to my right, Afrosamurai227 to my left - it was time to open the gate beneath the turret and get that flag! | В© MicrosoftДў. High Ground: To see High Ground place third on this list may come as a surprise to some, and I'll admit there's a little bias here.

Last Resort: Some great vertical play would always be involved in Last Resort, and how diverse the map was compared to a generic threeвЂ“laner, Last Resort demonstrated why asymmetrical maps can be amazingly good fun. A good size for larger teams and vehicles, Valhalla was perhaps best suited to capture the flag.

Valhalla: Valhalla was there to serve the iconic role that Blood Gulch and Coagulation had served in Halo 1 and 2 respectively, and although it was not as strong as its predecessors, Valhalla is still a great map.
